Osler wins three IFLR Americas honours, including Corporate Firm of the Year

At the 2026 IFLR Americas Awards, held in New York on October 15, Osler was named Corporate Firm of the Year. Shahir Guindi, Ad. E. was named Private Equity Partner of the Year, and HPS/BC Partners' minority stake acquisition in GardaWorld Security Corporation won Private Equity Deal of the Year. Osler announced the wins on Oct 16, 2026.

why it matters

A "Firm of the Year" title from an international publication that covers cross-border work is a claim Osler can carry straight into US-facing pitches and RFPs. Shortlisted rivals that didn't win need their own counter-message.

Osler claims #2 across Bloomberg, LSEG and Mergermarket 9M M&A tables

On Oct 22, 2026, Osler said it ranked #2 for the first nine months of 2026 in Bloomberg's Canadian announced deals by volume; in LSEG's announced M&A deals with any Canadian involvement by value, and its announced and completed deals with any Canadian involvement by deal count; and in Mergermarket's Canada rankings by both volume and deal count. The announcement names corporate partners Alex Gorka and Jeremy Fraiberg in Toronto.

why it matters

Q3 league tables open the year-end positioning season. Claiming the same rank across three providers is a strong consistency story; expect rivals to answer with whichever metric they lead.

Stikeman Elliott advises Logan Energy on its sale to Ovintiv

On Oct 26, 2026, Logan Energy Corp. announced an arrangement agreement under which Ovintiv Canada ULC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ovintiv Inc., will acquire all Logan shares for C$1.40 cash per share, valuing Logan at approximately C$1.26 billion including assumed net debt. Shareholders also receive shares in spin-out Logan Oil Corp., valued at about C$0.08 per Logan share, plus transaction warrants, for total consideration the release puts at C$1.48 per share. The release names Stikeman Elliott LLP as legal counsel to Logan and Logan Oil.

why it matters

It is a sizeable Canadian energy public M&A mandate in a sector where Calgary offices compete hard, and it will likely feature in Stikeman's Q4 deal publicity and award submissions.
